POWDERSVILLE – Speaking to a handful of people who attended a town hall meeting Monday night in Powdersville, House District 10 Rep. Joshua Putnam listed and explained several pieces of proposed legislation which he either sponsored, or signed onto as a co-sponsor.
Third District Congressman Jeff Duncan and South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson will hold a joint town hall meeting in the Upstate on Tuesday, February 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Easley Campus of Tri-County Technical College. The town hall will focus on the federal government’s legal actions against South Carolina.
A Powdersville man was recently arrested for criminal sexual conduct for an incident involving a 12 year old male.
Brandon Keith Lackey, 18, 114 Arthur Dr., Powdersville, was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, (2nd degree) by the Williamston Police Department.
The incident, which occurred within the Williamston Town limits, took place between June and August 31 of 2011. Lackey was charged with the offenses on January 31.
A Powdersville business was destroyed by an early morning fire Tuesday. Foothills Insulation, located on Assembly Drive was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters from Powdersville and Wren arrived minutes after receiving the call.

AnMed Health Wren Family Medicine will hold a grand opening Sunday, Feb. 12 from noon to 2 p.m. Residents are invited to meet the doctors, tour the practice and enjoy free refreshments. Attendees will receive free water bottles and can register to win a new bicycle.

The Anderson School District One Board of Trustees approved funding for a sidewalk and road improvement project in the Wren School area and the 2012-13 school calender during their regular monthly meeting held Tuesday, Jan. 31.Anderson County Chief Engineer Judy Shelato presented information about the Wren Schools Safe Routes to School Project to the Board.
