Car wash to benefit PHS JROTC

The Williamston Police Department and the Palmetto High Junior ROTC will hold a car-wash to raise money for the PHSJROTC unit to help with expenses of attending leadership school. The carwash will be held May 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Comforter, hypothermia contributed to child’s death

The death of a six month old child in Williamston Tuesday was likely caused by a large comforter and hypothermia, according to Deputy Coroner Don McCown. Six-month-old Ayala Aliyah Lopez was sleeping in a playpen with a large, thick comforter in a house with no heat, McCown said.

Planning commission looking at town limits

The Williamston Planning and Development Commission is concentrating on tying up some loose ends before passing its recommendations on to the Town council for action. There are four different zoning maps for the town, with discrepancies that need to be resolved and the commission is looking at the town limits.

Police Department offers forensic homicide training

The Williamston Police Department is hosting a Forensic Homicide Death Investigation class for officers from across the upstate this week. The 40 hour class, the only one of its kind being offered in the state, is approved through the State Criminal Justice Academy.

The Clock reopens

What has become a Williamston landmark, The Clock reopened in their new building Monday with a steady flow of customers and a line waiting to place their order until closing.

After being closed for six months during which the old building was removed and a new building constructed, they finally opened with double the seating capacity and much needed space in the kitchen area.
