Party in the Park gets great response – GWBA

The first Greater Williamston Business Association (GWBA) “Party in the Park” held Friday was a big hit for local residents who came out to enjoy an evening of free family entertainment and for the organization. More than 1200 people attended the event which included kids activities, food by local restaurants/vendors and live music provided by the Eric Scott Band. They also enjoyed line dancing and DJ music by Choice Entertainment.

Hurricanes ready for Mud FLUD run

The second annual Wren Hurricane Mud FLUD Run will be held on Saturday, June 1 beginning at 8 a.m. Participants will crawl through muddy ravines, ford a babbling stream, jump and climb over a multitude of obstacles, while going through through a ‘flud of mud.” Contestants will compete on the 3.1-mile course until the last team completes (or is carried off) the muddy obstacle-filled FLUD Run through Wigington’s Farm behind Wren High School. The event is being organized to raise funds for the Wren High School Athletic Program.

WrenStock 2013 Saturday, June 1

WrenStock 2013, the class reunion that has become a yearly event for Wren High School Alumni between 1958 and 1999 will be held Saturday, June 1 at Anderson Motor Speedway. Gates will open at 2pm. The event features an outdoor tailgating get-together and live entertainment in a festival atmosphere.

Saluda River Rally features fun, floating

The 4th Annual Saluda River Rally will take place this weekend, June 1- 2 with kayaking, tubing, fishing, ballooning, camping, bluegrass music and a 9-hole disc golf course all on the Saluda River.

Participants who do not have their own boats are invited to use kayaks provided by Grady’s Great Outdoors or tubes provided by Saluda River Rafting. Reservations for boats and/or tubes for Saturday’s revolving paddle trips can be made by contacting Anderson County Parks. Participants without reservations will be “first come, first served”.

ParkFest honors first responders; offers music, food and fun – June 1

The Town of Williamston will be bustling with activity this Saturday when a new event called “ParkFest – A Heros Celebration” kicks off at 11 a.m.

The new festival event will feature music by the Piedmont Boys beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a special program honoring first responders including police, fire and EMS at 12 noon.

Farmers Market at ParkFest

The second Palmetto Farmers Market will be held this Saturday, June 1, at Mineral Spring Park in Williamston in conjunction with the ParkFest Celebration.

Vendors will be there from 8 a.m. until early afternoon with a variety of locally grown and locally produced items, including beef, soap, all-natural insect repellant, herb and vegetable plants, honey, aprons, and hats.

GWBA sponsors Friday night Party in the Park May 31

The Greater Williamston Business Association (GWBA) “Party in the Park” will be held this Friday evening and will feature live entertainment by one of the Upstate’s favorite bands, the Eric Scott Band.

The fun will begin at 5 p.m. with DJ music by Choice Entertainment. Free Kids’ Activities will be provided by the GWBA from 5 pm-8:30pm with Eddie’s Trackless Trains and 3 Kids Inflatables. The park playground will be open to kids until the event ends, organizers said.

Enjoy a night at the Belton Museum

Tickets are available now for the Belton Area Museum Association’s upcoming fundraiser Night for the Museum. The event will be held from 6:30 -9:30 PM on Thursday, May 30, at the historic Belton Train Depot.

“This silent/live auction should prove to be fun and competitive with a great payoff in the end since so many wonderful items will be up for bid,” said Events Committee Chairman Paula Blake.
