“100 Days of School” Celebration

The “100th Day of School” for Anderson School District 1 was Friday, February 1st at Cedar Grove Elementary. Brown and Creamer’s K-5 class celebrated by making hats with exactly 100 dots on each. Students also brought in a collection of 100 like items, counted to 100 in various ways, completed a 100 number chart and shared 100 pieces of snack.

PHS Alumni planning multi-class reunion

Alumni of Palmetto High School are invited to a Multi-Class Reunion which will be held Saturday, October 27 at the American Legion Post 121 in Williamston.

2012 Palmetto Homecoming Court

Palmetto High will crown a new homecoming queen this Friday during halftime ceremonies of the Palmetto vs. West Oak football game. The 2012 Homecoming Queen Court includes: l-r) Jill Keeler, Stacie Poock, Hollyn Candler, Jessica Getsinger, Katherine Callaham, Kayla Broome, Halee Bryant, Karsen McCullough, Megan Cortez, and Bethany Bear.

PHS welcomes home veterans on Upstate Honor Flight

Upstate Honor Flight is a program that flies World War II veterans to Washington, DC to see the memorial built in their honor and allows them to experience recognition for their sacrifice and service. Palmetto High School AFJROTC cadets and the Mustang Regiment attended the return of 72 WWII veterans on the Upstate Honor Flight at GSP Airport on Tuesday. Cadets conducted a saber salute and provided Color Guard as each veteran received a “hero’s welcome.” The Mustang Regiment band performed the National Anthem and a service song medley continually throughout the ceremony.

Palmetto Middle teacher tweets her way to NASA

Pamela Frady, 8th grade science teacher at Palmetto Middle School in Anderson School District One wanted to find a way to keep up with current, news breaking science. So, this summer, she decided to follow NASA, USGS, and various other government agencies on Twitter.

“I was very new to social networking via Twitter, but I wanted to know what was happening on a daily basis. Mainstream news media outlets do not spend a lot of time on topics we may be studying so, in order to be better informed and to pass along exciting topics in science I joined Twitter.”
