Two injured – US 25

Two people were injured Friday (Feb. 1) night in a two vehicle accident on US 25 in Moonville. The two vehicles collided near the intersection of I-185. Greenville EMS transported the injured to Greenville Memorial medical Center. South Greenville firefighters assisted EMS with patient care and traffic control. (Photo by David Rogers)

Demore named Ruritan of the Year

The Augusta Road Ruritan Club held a special Christmas meeting in mid-December, as national President Phyllis Lewter visited to help celebrate 60-years for the local club as keynote speaker. The Woodmont ROTC was in charge of the opening ceremony and the Sunshine Sisters entertained with a medley of favorite oldies and Christmas carols.

Sheriff’s Office seeks information on Piedmont burglary

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary incident in which a home located at 90 Ferguson Road in Piedmont was burglarized sometime between 12 pm on Dec. 21, 2012 and 2 am on January 4, 2013. After forcing entry into the home the thieves took more than $50,000 of jewelry, electronics and coins. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.

 

Piedmont home burglarized

South Greenville parade Saturday

South Greenville Annual County Christmas Parade This Saturday starting at 11am. The Parade will be starting at Old Hundred Rd. & Hwy 418 and go to Reedy Fork Rd.

 

SGFD dedicates new station

The South Greenville Fire District recently held an Open house and Dedication service for a new fire station located in the MATRIX business park. The Station was dedicated to retired South Greenville Fire Chief William M. (Billy) Campbell. Chief Campbell served over 32 years as an active member and now serves as the Chairman of the commission board. The station is located at 1820 Old Grove Rd. Piedmont

 

Augusta Road Ruritans to celebrate 60th anniversary

The Augusta Road Ruritan Club (ARRC) members are planning a celebration of the Club’s 60th Anniversary on Monday, Dec. 17th at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the ARRC Clubhouse at 7788 Augusta Road, South; Piedmont. (1 mile south of Moonville on Hwy 25).

RMF expanding at Matrix Business Park

The Roy Metal Finishing (RMF) company will expand its current operations in Greenville County, building a custom facility in Greenville County’s Matrix Business & Technology Park. The $13 million investment is expected to generate at least 20 new jobs over the next three years.

Three injured – Moonville

Three people were transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital following an accident Saturday at the intersection of Augusta Road and J. Walter Moon Boulevard. Two cars collided in the intersection. New high school to relieve overcrowding

Meeting to discuss names – The Board of Trustees of Greenville County Schools is accepting suggestions for the name of the new high school to open in southern Greenville County in August 2017. The school, which will be located on Quillen Avenue in Fountain inn, will relieve overcrowding at Hillcrest, Mauldin, and Woodmont High Schools.
