SLED to investigate in-custody death
SLED is investigating the death of a 39 year old female who was in custody of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office when she apparently went into cardiac arrest Thursday evening.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary incident in which a home located at 90 Ferguson Road in Piedmont was burglarized sometime between 12 pm on Dec. 21, 2012 and 2 am on January 4, 2013. After forcing entry into the home the thieves took more than $50,000 of jewelry, electronics and coins. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.

Burglary suspect shot, accomplices at large – Emily Lane area
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary incident in the Emily Lane area of Piedmont in which one of those involved was shot by the homeowner and additional suspects remain at large.
The GCSO received a 911 call regarding a burglary at 48 Emily Ln. at 10:40 a.m. today (Monday). The caller stated he returned home and discovered someone had broken into his residence and removed several items.
New high school to relieve overcrowding
Meeting to discuss names – The Board of Trustees of Greenville County Schools is accepting suggestions for the name of the new high school to open in southern Greenville County in August 2017. The school, which will be located on Quillen Avenue in Fountain inn, will relieve overcrowding at Hillcrest, Mauldin, and Woodmont High Schools.

Piedmont (Moonville) Allstate agency owner Wes Porter received the 2012 Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award for his commitment to helping others. With this award came a $1000 grant from The Allstate Foundation for the American Cancer Society Inc., in Piedmont, where Porter volunteers.
Greenville County Schools Course Registration for 2012-13 begins Feb. 13
Registration for fall courses for Greenville County Schools students in grades 5-11 will be held February 13 – March 15, 2012. Parents and students should check with their school regarding specific grade-level registration dates.
