Dr. Fisher recognized by Greenville County Council

Superintendent Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher was recently recognized by members of Greenville County Council. County Councilman Joe Dill presented Fisher with a County Council Proclamation declaring January 24, 2012 as Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher Day in Greenville County.

O’Reillys parts store coming to Piedmont

Officials from the Anderson County Planning Department have confirmed that an O’Reilly Auto Parts store is coming to Piedmont soon.

“They are making some minor changes to their grading and stormwater permit applications, and once we receive those, their building permits will be issued,” said Bill West.

Poore recovering from surgery

Piedmont Public Service Commission Chairman Ed Poore was released from the hospital Tuesday, a week after undergoing open heart surgery. Poore underwent two bypasses and a valve replacement.

Metro secures rights of way, funding to complete PPSD sewer project

Metropolitan Sewer Subdistrict (Metro) and Piedmont Public Service District (PPSD) recently announced that $7.9 million in funding necessary to begin full-scale rehabilitation of the Piedmont Sewer System has been secured.

Man charged after setting woman on fire

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at 3361 West Georgia Road in which a man reported being awakened at 3:15 am by screams in his backyard. Reports state he observed a woman on fire in his backyard and called 911. The South Greenville Fire Department, EMS and Sheriff’s Deputies responded.

PPSD to turn over sewer lines to Metro

Within a week, and at long last, the Piedmont Public Service Commission should be out of the sewer business. The Commission moved their monthly meeting up a week in order to review and sign legal documents that will allow the Metropolitan Sewer Subdistrict to assume ownership of and responsibility for the district’s sewer lines.
