Greenville Schools registration begins Feb. 13

Registration for fall courses for Greenville County Schools students in grades 5-11 will be held February 13 – March 15, 2012. Parents and students should check with their school regarding specific grade-level registration dates.

Woodmont Middle School Improvement Council selected State Honor

The School Improvement Councils (SICs) of two Greenville County schools have been named to the S.C. School Improvement Council’s (SC-SIC) 2012 Honor Roll for their significant efforts to foster civic engagement in public education. The SICs at Woodmont Middle School and Blythe Elementary Academy of Languages will continue in the running for the SC-SIC’s annual Dick and Tunky Riley Award for School Improvement Council Excellence.

Piedmont SC History added to The Journal-Online website

Several historical information posts have been added to The Journal-Online website this week. Added are posts with information compiled mainly by Piedmont Historian Don Roper going back as far as the late 1700s to 2002. We hope you enjoy reading about the history of Piedmont this week. Additional history and other information about Williamston, Pelzer, West Pelzer and Piedmont will be posted to the website periodically as we continue to update the new site.

Dr. Fisher recognized by Greenville County Council

Superintendent Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher was recently recognized by members of Greenville County Council. County Councilman Joe Dill presented Fisher with a County Council Proclamation declaring January 24, 2012 as Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher Day in Greenville County.
