Anderson County Sheriff’s Report

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies recently investigated seventeen reports of auto break-ins in the Powdersville area and a number of shoplifting incidents at several Powdersville stores including the new Walmart. Among incidents investigated were the following:

EASLEY

On May 30, ACSO deputies responded to seventeen reports of automobiles in the Powdersville area being broken into the night before. Several GPS units were stolen, along with other electronics including a laptop computer. Two firearms were among the items stolen. The total of the estimated losses for all fourteen cars is $5770. Every one of the cars was left unlocked, according to the incident reports.

Man facing multiple charges in domestic dispute/assaults

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a domestic dispute on April 28 in which several persons were injured resulting in multiple charges for Stacy Allan Burgess. Burgess, 40, was booked on charges of attempted murder, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and second degree assault and battery. Bond was denied and he remains in custody.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following incidents:

May 11 – C.P. Huff was dispatched to 108 Lake Dr. Easley where Salisha Wright reported that she and her daughter had been receiving strange threatening text messages.

April 20 – J.T. Bowers was responding to a burglary call when he saw a gray truck cross the center line ahead of him. The truck then turned onto Hwy.8 and again crossed the center line, Bowers stopped the truck and found that Anthony McDowell, BM, 47, 5’8″, 160 pounds to have a strong smell of alcohol and to be slurring his words. Bowers, who is not certified to conduct field sobriety tests or the data master test, arrested McDowell for public disorderly conduct.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following incidents:

March 17 – P.C. Henry responded to 101 Williamsburg Way where Maria Meinke reported that someone entered her vehicle and stole her Garmin GPS and a cell phone adaptor. The items were valued at $145.

Meth in the refrigerator – Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated an incident in which a person being questioned told deputies there was “meth in the refrigerator.”

A.D. Hendrix and D.L. Brinston were on patrol on Hwy. 153 Feb. 24 when they saw a white male behind the Super 8 Motel. They made contact and he said he was hanging out with some friends in Room 129.

The motel clerk told deputies there had been a lot of traffic to that room. Upon speaking with one of the occupants, Kristian, Johnson, WF, 19, 5’7″, 130 pounds, red/hazel, of Travelers Rest, Hendrix asked her why her friend said he didn’t know her name.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputes investigated the following:

EASLEY

Feb. 17 – C.P. Huff was dispatched to 402 Roe Rd. where Karen Williams reported that she left her car running in her driveway and someone stole it. The loss was estimated at $3500.

Break-in results in search for suspect – Anderson County Sheriff’s Report

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a break-in at an area storage facility which resulted in an extensive, hours long search for one suspect.

ACSO Deputy B. Vaughn responded initially to a report of four suspects at the storage facility near Exit 32 at Hwy. 8 and I-85. Upon arriving, he found Deputy Turner, who was off duty but had responded to a personal call from the facility’s owner. He had two suspects in custody, Damien Tiller, WM, 18, 5’4″, 170 pounds, blonde and blue, from Belton, and Frank Evans Jr., WM, 42, 5’11″, 165 pounds, gray/hazel, also from Belton.

Deputy J. K. Billingsley also responded and took a third suspect, Adam Clontz, WM, 22, 5’9″, 190 pounds, brn/hazel, of Westminster, into custody. In the meantime, the ACSO helicopter was overhead, seeking some sign of the reported fourth suspect, who had fled on foot.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a number of thefts throughout the area including break-ins into vehicles and homes. Among incidents investigated were:

BELTON

Jan. 19 – J.E. Scott responded to 1010 Traynum Rd. where William Hayney reported that someone had broken into a camper trailer he kept on the property and took an awning valued at $150. Joseph Cannon, who also stored a trailer at that site, reported the theft of various items valued at $125.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following incidents:
PELZER – Jan. 12 – K. Evatt responded to 2100 Highway 86 to a store there. He took possession of a counterfeit twenty dollar bill.

Jan. 14 – B. Vaughn responded to 106 Lucky Lane in reference to a prowler report. He found William Moore, WM, 38, 6’, 170 pounds, of Fountain Inn, sitting on the back steps of the residence. He was under the influence of some substance, according to Vaughn, and was unable to communicate. He began cursing loudly and was arrested for public disorderly conduct.
