GWBA readies for Party in the Park May 31

The Greater Williamston Business Association (GWBA) is planning an event on Friday, May 31, that will provide free entertainment and activities for the Williamston community and surrounding area while promoting local business.

“Party in the Park” will feature live entertainment by one of the Upstate’s favorite bands, the Eric Scott Band. Free Kids’ Activities will be provided by the GWBA from 5 pm-8:30pm with Eddie’s Trackless Trains and 3 Kids Inflatables. The park playground will be open to kids until the event ends, organizers said.

Events, scout project get council approval

During their regular monthly meeting Monday, Williamston Town Council approved requests from organizers of two events to use Mineral Spring Park. The events, while separate, will be held on the same weekend.

The Greater Williamston Business Association is planning a “Party in the Park” event for Friday, May 31. The next day, Saturday, June 1, the park will be the center of activities associated with a new event called “ParkFest.”

GWBA begins year under new leadership

The Greater Williamston Business Association kicked off the new year under the leadership of a new president. Newly installed president Chris Trotter, of Central Vac and Twice the Ice, presented several ideas to members in a meeting held at the Smokin’ Pig restaurant on Monday. Approximately 30 area business leaders and representatives of the town, EMS and police department attended the meeting.

GWBA golf tournament Friday

The 15th annual Greater Williamston Business Association is still accepting teams for their annual golf tournament which will be held this Friday, October 19 at the Saluda Valley Country Club in Williamston.

The tournament is a four person Captain’s Choice with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The $160 entry fee includes cart, prizes and lunch. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

GWBA readies for golf tournament, Boo in Park

Members of the Greater Williamston Business Assocation met Tuesday at Subway in Williamston.

President John Thomason reported the GWBA has sent a check for $300 to the IRS for 501C3 application status but has not heard or received anything back on it.

Greater Williamston Business Association, town working together on improvements

The Greater Williamston Business Association met Tuesday, June 20 at Fiesta Restaurant in Williamston. Topics covered include AFJROTC, economic development, and GWBA projects.

Celebrate Independence on June 30

The Town of Williamston will hold their Independence Day celebration and fireworks on Saturday, June 30. Events planned include fire truck rides, music, kids’ inflatables and specials on food items at McDonald’s Restaurant. McDonald’s will also co-sponsor a cruise-in car show with the Williamston Fire Department.

GWBA makes donation to ROTC

 

The Greater Williamston Business Association donated $2130 to the Palmetto High Air Force Junior ROTC to help Cadet members participate in the Southeast Region AFJROTC Cadet Officer Leadership School at Mercer University in June. From serious to fun, area events are being held this week to celebrate Easter. Decorating and hunting eggs is a popular activity associated with the season. The Greater Williamston Business Association held their annual GWBA Easter Egg Hunt Saturday in Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park. Approximately 250 including parents and children attended the event. According to the gospels, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion and his resurrection is celebrated on Easter Sunday.
