Pelzer budget includes fee increases

Pelzer Town Council unanimously approved first reading on their 2013-14 budget and final reading on a new hospitality tax. The two percent hospitality tax will be added to prepared food and beverages sold in the town and can only be used for recreation, tourism and promotion expenses.

The $958,721 budget includes changes in water and sewer and other fees that will bring in additional revenues for the town.

Pelzer to meet April 12

The Town of Pelzer will hold a worksession prior to their regular meeting at 12 noon on April 12. The worksession with town Attorney Jimmy King and Scott Slatten of the SC Municipal Association will be held at 11 a.m. Information related to how the annexation process works will be presented.

Pelzer clerk to retire, council hears complaint about trash

By Stan Welch -Pelzer Town Council were told that their municipal clerk plans to retire and the council heard complaints from the public concerning a problem caused by the contractor who picks up the garbage in the town.

Pelzer gets new councilmember; will begin accepting credit cards

During their meeting Friday, Pelzer Town Council entertained a proposal to buy property located on the river and agreed to begin accepting credit card payments. At the start of the meeting, Cheryl Boudreau was sworn in to her seat on council and councilmember Donna Ide was elected Mayor Pro Tem.

During their meeting Friday, Pelzer Town Council entertained a proposal from a resident who wants to buy town property located on the river and agreed to begin accepting credit card payments. They also briefly discussed a cell tower proposal, contract with REWA and the Pelzer pool closing several days due to bad weather.

Pelzer approves budget, considers lease proposal

The town of Pelzer approved first reading on their 2012-13 budget and heard information on a cell tower proposal during their June meeting on Friday. The budget reflects revenues of $782,345 to expenses of $776,589 for a net reserve of $5,756. The majority of the budget is for water and sewer operations with additional expenditures for parks and recreation.

Pelzer to raise fees, cut some costs

The Town of Pelzer officially has a new mayor. Councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem Steve McGregor was released from duties as a councilman and sworn in as the town’s mayor during the Pelzer Town Council meeting Friday.

McGregor has been serving as head of the town since former mayor Kenneth Davis resigned recently.

Council approved an appointment to the election commission, several requests and discussed reducing the number of street lights, changing town hours office hours and providing security fencing around the town maintenance shed and more.

Pelzer prepares for water, sewer rate increases; plans to keep pool

The Pelzer Town Council met Friday, and dealt with several circumstances created by the sudden resignation of Mayor Kenneth Davis, as well as the death that morning of Ricki Riddle, election commission member and wife of Councilman Tony Riddle. The Council, working with a bare quorum of three members, due to the absence of Councilman Riddle, reelected Steve McGregor as mayor pro tem, and proceeded with the other business before them.
