Near drowning in Shorebrook area – Williamston

Members of the West Pelzer fire department along with members of the Anderson Technical Rescue Team take a break after bringing a near drowning victim to shore. He was pulled from the Big Creek Reservoir, a ninety acre lake near Williamston Friday afternoon. Truck overturns – Hwy. 29 at Hwy. 8

An 18-Wheeler over turned Monday morning at U.S. Hwy. 29 exit to Hwy. 8. According to reports the vehicle was traveling south on U. S. 29 and overturned as it rounded a sharp curve on the exit to Hwy. 8. The driver was transported to Greenville by Pelzer EMS. The truck was carrying cargo shipping containers. West Pelzer Fire Department responded and the accident is being investigated by the SC Highway Patrol.

Mobile Home Fire – Willingham Road

Firefighters from three area fire departments responded to a structure fire on Willingham Road around 6 a.m. Thursday morning.  Officials believe a clothes dryer was the cause of the fire which destroyed the home.

Moped driver injured

Callahan’s Restaurant on fire – Piedmont

Piedmont, Wren and Powdersville Firefighters responded to a fire at Callahan’s Family Restaurant in Piedmont at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Driver cut from wreckage – Hwy. 29

West Pelzer and Whitefield firefighters work at the scene of a two vehicle accident on US Highway 29 north Friday night. A Honda and a pickup truck were involved in the accident just north of Ballard Road. Reports indicated thedriver of the truck was trying to avoid the out of control Honda.  Firefighters had to cut the driver of the Honda from the wreckage. Pelzer EMS checked the driver of the truck but he was not taken to the hospital. Hwy. 29 was blocked for more than an hour.(Photo by David Rogers)

Occupants escape fire uninjured – Beaverdam Rd.

Two vehicle accident – SC Hwy. 8

Investigate accident – Hwy. 29

SC Highway Patrol Troopers investigated the scene of a vehicle crash on Hwy. 29 near Ballard Road Wednesday morning. The accident, involving two vehicles, happened around 7 a.m. and blocked both lanes of Hwy. 29 for more than 2 hours. West Pelzer firefighters freed two people who were entrapped in the vehicle pictured, according to West Pelzer Fire Chief David Huff. Both were transported to the hospital by Pelzer EMS. The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured. The accident remains under investigation by SC Highway Patrol investigated.
