Pig in the Park May 18-19

The Pig in the Park Barbecue Cookoff will be held May 18 and 19 in Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park. Acitivites will begin on Friday at 12 noon with barbecue and food sales, craft vendors, children’s play area and live entertainment by Barnyard on a Freight Train singing country music.

Williamston Police Report

Williamston Police Officers investigated the following:

Mar. 30 – Brandie Marie Toothman, 30, 835 Joe Black Rd. Williamston was arrested for operating an uninsured vehicle, driving under suspension and failure to register a vehicle after officers observed a Nissan car on Mill St. D. M. Stipe investigated.

Williamston Council makes budget revisions

During their regular monthly meeting Monday, Williamston Town Council approved second reading on an employee handbook change, approved two budget revisions allowing funding for Brookdale Park project and matching funds for a CDBG grant and increased allowed wrecker service fees.

Williamston Police Report

Four individuals were arrested Friday and are facing drug charges after the Williamston Police Department and Anderson County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team executed simultaneous search warrants at two locations within the town of Williamston, according to Williamston Police Chief Jay Grubbs.

Clardy to announce campaign April 3

Phillip E. Clardy will officially announce his intentions to run for mayor of the Town of Williamston next week.

Clardy plans to announce the specifics of his campaign agenda and talk to supporters on Tuesday, April 3 at 5 p.m. on the front door steps of the Williamston Municipal Center.

Special meeting Thursday on Milliken property purchase

Williamston Town Council will hold second reading and a public hearing on the Milliken property purchase during a special called meeting Thursday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. Council approved first reading on an ordinance to purchase approximately 70 acres of property located within the town limits during their regular meeting Feb. 6.
